Peaceful, prosperous societies need people and institutions to be subject to law that is fairly applied. The U.S. Rule of Law institute helps states and members of society work together to strengthen the rule of law, often through justice and security sector reforms. USRLI develops innovative models to foster and shepherd sustainable and locally supported reforms, trains rule-of-law practitioners, conducts research and holds forums to share knowledge. The institute also supports programs such as Justice and Security Dialogues, which seek to build trust between civil society and officials from the justice and security sectors.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    \r\n

    USRLI”s justice reform program in Tunisia seeks to build the capacity of the MOJ to improve access to justice through an independent, accountable, transparent, and fair justice system. USRLI collaborates with the MOJ to implement alternatives to incarceration through the expansion of probation offices through the country. INL supports the MOJ in its efforts to expedite the processing of cases through the implementation of the Court Administration program, which includes harnessing technology to establish Remote Courts to help move more cases efficiently through the judicial system and developing a centralized, modern, and secure information system <\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

    \r\n CORRECTIONS REFORM PROGRAMS \r\n <\/i><\/i> \r\n <\/h4>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

    USRLI works in close cooperation with the MOJ and its Committee General for Prisons and Rehabilitations (CGPR) on programs that support the CGPR\u2019s goal to raise conditions of confinement and prison management to meet international best practices. USRLI has been working with the CGPR to support its efforts to reduce prison overcrowding and effectively manage inmate populations through the nationwide prisoner classification project; increase staff capacities through training; and support vocational programs to teach job skills for inmates. <\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

    \r\n LAW ENFORCEMENT REFORM PROGRAMS \r\n <\/i><\/i> \r\n <\/h4>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

    USRLI supports the MOI\u2019s efforts to modernize Tunisian policing through the promotion of international practices pertaining to professionalism, accountability, and transparency. Collaborative efforts include the modernization of the MOI\u2019s flagship National Police Academy at Enfidha and the enhancement of National Police and National Guard training capacities in programs including crowd control, cybercrimes, forensics, and multiple threat training. <\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

    \r\n REGIONAL BORDER SECIRITY OFFICE (RBS) \r\n <\/i><\/i> \r\n <\/h4>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

    The Export Control and Related Border Security Assistance (EXBS) program is the U.S. Government\u2019s premier initiative to help other countries improve their export control systems. Managed by the Department of State\u2019s Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, EXBS is designed to help prevent proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), their missile delivery systems, conventional weapons, and related items by assisting foreign governments to establish and implement effective export control systems that meet international standards. <\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n \t
